Low Back Pain?
Does your back hurt? Did you know that low back pain is one of the most common causes of disability world-wide? Low back pain is defined as any symptom occurring between the lower ribs and the buttocks. Some individuals who present with low back pain symptoms may have associated leg pain and neurological symptoms. Low back pain can be experienced by anyone. Most often, the exact source of low back pain cannot be identified and is deemed non-specific low back pain (not caused by a specific pathology). Other times, there can be source that can be attributed to vertebral fractures, inflammatory disorders, infections, malignancy and intra-abdominal causes. There are many factors that can be attributing to someone’s symptoms such as psychological, social, biophysical, genetics, comorbidities etc.
Here at MWC, we will take a history, complete a physical exam, diagnosis and complete a plan of management that is unique to you that includes patient preference, clinical expertise and the best available research. Referrals and collaboration are also very important to us. Monitoring of symptoms will always be done and if worsening of symptoms, a referral to another healthcare provider will be done for further investigation.
Type of treatment depends on the patient, patient condition and duration of the condition. Not everyone will respond in the same way to treatments.
